I finally gave up and frogged the disaster scarf — to be perfectly accurate, I gave up, restarted it, narrower and WITHOUT messing up every single repeat, knitted about six inches of new scarf, decided I was going to die of sudden and extreme boredom if I had to work that pattern any longer, and then frogged the old one.
And made a wee fox out of the salvage.
I’m really pleased, because I don’t do much three-dimensional knitting, and it came out looking just like it did in my head. The yarn being a nice rustic granite wool, it reminded me of the stone kitsune that’re paired off on all the shrines at Fushimi Inari.

Maybe I’ll do a red bib and a mate at some point. And a scroll and a ball. And hundreds and hundreds of torii, if you give a moose a muffin.
